The Coolest Jobs For Teens

The Coolest Jobs For Teens

Teenagers are welcome to find a job right here for the Summer. The options are filled with exciting jobs, and please do not let the fact that there are some 20 million Americans without jobs fill your job searches today. As the owner of this job site, I know a lot about teen jobs and how to get them, and I have been doing this for over 8 years on a professional basis. With the job market changing year after year, one this is for sure, the Internet sure has forced many changes on the employment scale, and I think all for the better.

Joining the job ranks as a camp counselor is still one of the coolest jobs for teens aged 16 to 21. My kids go to camp every year and every year I have to hear the stories on why Mike is so cool, or James, or Susan etc. You get the picture. Below is what you can expect once you join the ranks of the camp grounds.

Why is a camp counselor a great job for teens?

Well camp counselors are usually high school and college students that watch kids during camp, they supervise and plan the activities for the day and build a relationship with kids for the Summer. They protect, coach, and keep a watchful eye while parents are out there working. The are many reasons why being a camp counselor is one of the most sought after and best job for teenagers. The first reason is that you get to work outdoors and have the ability to have fun while you earn that much needed money and many times its more of a hang out than actually work. Some other reasons are because they get to try new activities that they would never otherwise have the opportunity to do, like riding in a canoe or mountain climbing, horse back riding, and also all kinds of sports from soccer, to baseball, basketball, football you name it. In Summer camp all sports are in season.

Others reasons are that you get to do what you are interested in. For example, if you are a football player or cheerleader, you can work at football camps or cheer leading camps. This allows you to work in a setting that you are passionate about and you will excel in and so will your camp kids. Most camps require that camp counselors be at least 16 years old, making this a great job for teens everywhere. Anyone who gets the chance to mentor kids and likes it really has something special.

Find A Part Time Job

Most camp positions are part-time jobs and many of them start you off just over the minimum wage but not much more. In order to find such a job, the first start will be any schools in your areas. Many of the elementary schools, middle schools in your area will host some type of Summer camp. My suggestion is that you start early. Most camp counselor jobs are advertised in the winter time and are usually filled sometime in April or May.

Summer camps are also hosted in many churches, and recreational parks. So if there is one near you, and you need a job start there. Many of the schools in your area may host Summer camp but not staff it, so find out which companies are staffing the camp during the Summer and reach out to that company. Remember the key to landing one of these jobs is to start early. Unless you want to flip burgers during the Summer months, and hey there is nothing wrong with that. I held a McDonald’s job and I learned plenty of responsibility amongst other things, but I wish I would have had the insight to land a job at a Summer camp. Good luck finding a job for you, something you like hopefully.

Find A Part Time Job At A MLB Ballpark Today

As the MLB baseball season begins this year, many teenagers and young adults will have yet another place of employment in their own hometown in which they can attempt to obtain a job from. Most jobs that are not normally year round positions open with Spring and the prospectus of Major League baseball’s new season. These jobs which are back after a 5 month hiatus can create quite a buzz in these towns as more people are offered the opportunity to gain employment. Even though regular jobs are hard to fill because the demand all year round is so great, jobs in baseball like vendor positions, and merchandise sales, as well as security jobs will become available in most major cities in the United States as baseball gets ready to open for the season. So if you are looking for a job, look no further than MLB and your home team. Here is your first opportunity to apply for a job for free!

Taking a look at your city’s Major League team for employment is a great venture, because the baseball season spans 6 months, and if you are lucky to live in a town that cares about baseball and the post season, it can even be extended. Major league baseball teams will hire hundreds and hundreds of sales persons and vendors all for different positions to man the stadium for the new season. Companies will be hiring security personnel as well. There are different entities that are not associated with the actual ballpark and they handle the security outside of the stadium as well as inside. These jobs will require that you attend a short seminar and in that seminar, most of the applicants that are picked for an event security staff position is given an overview of the job.

I can tell you that it was a fun job for me during the 1990’s as I was able to land a part-time job with the security company for Joe Robbie Stadium. For the most part there was a debriefing before and after each ball game, in which we were told of any situations that arose that might be of interest from the point of view of the security staff. Personnel at the stadium are always kept abreast of any ongoing situations and the debriefing is put into place to find a solution for plans that don’t work. Most large cities have their own municipal police departments man both the inside and outside of the stadium, but the work performed by the security guards is different of that of the police. The security is placed there as the eyes and ears of the stadium officials who are running the event.  The police departments take action only in the event of an unruly patron, everything else for the most part lies as part of the responsibility of event security. Everything from assisting patrons with their seating, to manning the parking situation and lots.

You can expect to earn minimum wage for these jobs at MLB stadiums, and you can also expect to get raises at special intervals. The more productive you are the more hours and games you will get scheduled. So swing for the fences with your new job at a MLB ball park this spring. Many of these stadiums and security event companies also have online employment applications. Fill out online job applications and work for your local baseball team this baseball season.
